The Groom's Story

I am a man of integrity and loyalty and have been shaped into the person I am today because of the exemplary modeling that came from my family. I was born and raised in Dayton, OH to Larry and Marsha Yawn. At an early age, my mother and father instilled the importance of education in me (as well as my older brothers). I am a life-long learner and have received my Bachelors degree from Hampton University, in Virginia, my Masters degree from Mercy College, in New York, and I will soon receive my Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in August of 2008.

As a result of my upbringing, it is no surprise that I hold strong convictions about the responsibilities parents and teachers have for equipping children with the educational foundation needed for them to be successful in life. I am on a steadfast mission to touch as many lives as possible through education. In fact, I have dedicated my career to preparing future teachers and providing services for learners with exceptionalities.

Meeting Mari-Alistine Yawn -ooops not yet- I mean Moss first at Hampton University and then through our reconnection was no coincidence. Even in her absence, our lives were methodically intertwined so we would be a perfect match with a shared passion about service toward others and a unified vision about our soul mate. She represents everything desirable in a wife: support, courage, beauty, and most importantly love. She is truly a gift from God and I know He has blessed us both with the tools needed to live up to His expectations.

Indeed, we are well on our way to accomplishing our goals. However, as strong believers in God we know that we can only do all things through Christ who strengthens [us].
